This is my first ride of the new year and I was hopping for the best, but of course I get on my favorite horse Mars and right away his ears are glued to his head.
All I wanted for Christmas was a horse that was not going to kill me. Lol.
I asked him to jog and he bucked instead,
I asked him to stop and he went straight up,
I yelled NO and he said NO back,
I kicked him with both legs and he bucked again,
I yelled No again and kick again and he jogged off.
This was just starting our fun ride together, (remember I'm bareback with only halter and lead rope). As we jogged around he would not keep a slow pace but kept wanting to go faster but if I let him lope I knew I would not last. He kept trying to put his head down but I know this game, it's head down and back end comes up so we have a few fights over who is the boss. It was windy and really cold day so I only rode him for half hour but buy the end of our ride he was starting to behave himself better. Good thing I never left the ridding arena. That wouldn't have ended well, a run away for sure.

Today i rode Pretty first, she never gives me much of a problem, but she is not to fond of the idea of me climbing the fence beside her to get on to her. She like to move away form me. we just did some jogging around the arena and plowing through the fresh snow, I picked my hands put to ask her to put her head down and she right away did so so I just played around with her today, seeing if she would bend in her head and still go straight, did some backing up into deep snow, which some horses don't like, we did some slow spinning, as I was not going to push her for speed. We had a nice slow ride her head was down the hole time.
Well then I got on Mars and that was a different story all together. He was happy to see me but not so happy when I got on him. He didn't want to stand still and when we jogged around the arena just one time I could feel his back arching and he was shaking his head. I had to pull hard to get him to stop trying to buck, he only tried it a few more times and we did our jog around doing some figure eights and backing up in deeps snow and he didn't care at all. Testing the brakes is always fun to do with Mars, we are not Champion Keyhole runners for nothing. Except when he is mad and at a jog I ask him to stop buy just putting my feet forwards and he stopped alright but he also went straight up again.
I also got on my dad's horse Sue today, he has not been ridding for quite some time so I put the bit on him and I had to get Jen to hold him when I got on cause he just would not stay still. I was just about all the way on the he went up, so I went off and poor Jen almost got dragged by him trying to get away. Well now I was not happy at all so I grabbed my saddle and put him to work. But even when I had my saddle he just wanted to throw his head up and run. Well I'm not putting up with this. Sue thinks he can do a better Bronco then Mars can. Sue can't do half of what Mars can. So anything Sue wants to try on me, go for it, I can handle it. I got his head fixed and down, he won't be doing that again. I got him jogging nice and slow around the arena and did a little bit of spinning and called it a day.
I didn't almost get dragged by him. I was running backwards with him!! I'm talented :) Lol.
